Brickhaus Working Dogs is a small German Shepherd breeder Located in Tampa Florida. We produce working German Shepherd puppies that follow the German SV standard and not AKC standards. We do extensive health and temperament testing in our breeding stock to produce puppies with exceptional health and temperaments.. We only use the best genetics from working line German Shepherds with a proven pedigree and clear health testing in our breeding program. Our emphasis is to produce quality puppies, not quantity. Breeding German Shepherd puppies is not a source of income for us, but rather a passion to improve the German Shepherd’s overall health and temperament for working and service dogs.
With over 20 years of experience, raising training, breeding and competing with his German Shepherds, Chris Meverden has a unique understanding and knowledge of German Shepherds that few people have. He has raised puppies from his own breeding program to National Championships and even been used in Hollywood for movies and TV.
The sport of IPGP, formerly known as schutzhund, is the breed test for the German Shepherd. The sport has unique challenges, skills, and behaviors that test the temperament of German shepherds and their suitability for breeding. IGP is designed to maintain the working ability of the German Shepherd. In Germany, it is standard practice to get an IGP title before you breed your German Shepherd , as well as strict health testing. AKC does not require any of this testing to breed German Shepherds in America. This is why Brickhaus Working Dogs does not follow AKC standards, but instead uses the German standards to guide our breeding program and produce puppies that are more true to a real German Shepherd.
